FW 15: Best of pants

Fall is all about easing back into smart dressing after a few months of blistering heat keeping layering and true sartorial options at bay. Next season, I'm excited for a much needed move from strictly slim cut. Not throwing away those slim fits just yet, but getting ready to branch out into new silhouettes for the changing weather.

In a world full of sweaters, there's nothing like the weight of a fully knit sweater. FW 15: The Turtleneck

The turtleneck was everywhere this season. From sleek and suited at Tom Ford to fuzzy and striped at Iceberg, the turtleneck just might be the new staple piece. Wear how you want- under another sweater, on it's own or crop it like Armani (and probably me tomorrow).  Check out some of my favorites below.

on proportions and length

Three things I've been obsessing over lately. 

1. Cropped sweaters

2. High-waisted, oversized pants

3. Length

Is there such a thing as too short or too big? The dickies I am wearing are 4 sizes up from my waist size, cinched at the waist with a belt, while I chopped about 4 inches off of my J. Crew sweater. Proportions are king and currently I've been pining for elongated legs, which can be achieved with slim or baggy pants, and a cropped torso. Doesn't hurt in jewel tones.

Thom Browne Fall 2015

Thom Browne's Fall 2015 Menswear collection was on a dark note this year, but they doesn't mean you can only wear it in mourning. With 'Death Becomes Her' at the Met Costume Exhibit, one can only help but note their similar tones. Thom's runway was long, layered and lady-like (and I mean that in the best way possible). Maxi skirts under suit jackets, peacoats under dusters and bare legs under fur-lined coats and of course, there were the clean shaven faces under top hats with veils. While the collection drew memories of a period widow, the lot brought a new kind of a modern masculinity unrivaled in the space.
