looking the part [world cup]

[Vintage hat, ASOS 'Brazil' polo, Life after Denim pants, Camper sandals]

I may not frequently be talking sports on FG, but the World Cup is different, right? In honor of the international sport de vita, I'm sporting an ASOS, world cup themed polo in the host's colors with the most perfectly fit chinos from Life After Denim. I mixed it up with sandals and a printed cap for a tourist sort of feel.

it's easy being green

[Leather Hat, Alternative Apparel shirt, Volcom shorts, Dr. Scholl's Shoes x Steven Alan sandals]

Printed shorts are my summer go to. I can't bare wearing extra layers in the heat plus wearing shorts and a T everyday gets pretty boring. The 60's-esque Volcom print was the perfect match for these Steven Alan x Dr. Scholl's mandals. I wasn't sure I'd ever be on the mandals supporting side, but turns out clog sandals are easy to wear and great for the heat.

summer pastels [via luis berragan]

Mexican architect, Luis Berragan, is known for his modernist clean lines and expressive use of color. He used light, space, color and lack there of as a means to capture the emotional side of his spaces, expressing a feeling that is both shockingly stunning and eerily serene at the same time.

This summer is the summer of pastels and I can't help but call upon Berragan for inspiration. The heat calls for colors of summer's past; washed out and beat up. Baby blues, faded mints, dusty pinks and electric yet sun washed yellows paired with clean lines is the look de jour.

prints on prints (mr. porter sale picks)

This week at work, I explored the designs of Zandra Rhodes for a blog post on the pink-haired print Queen. Her prints have a DIY, homemade kind of feel, even elementary. Like someone could have painted each blob, lipstick, finger nail or flower by hand.
Some people hoard tones, buying all the peach when it is 'in' cause it's their favorite color or stocking up on the perfect t-shirt in every hue. But my personal TLC-worthy addiction seems to be prints. I've always loved them (embroidered polos in khakis and polo in middle school? check. 70's paisleys in high school. DOUBLE check.). I have been known to buy vintage prints that don't fit because frankly I just can't help it.

Take a note from Zandra. If you see the print of your dreams, it's now or never.

vintage gant plaids

[Vintage collar bar, Vintage Gant button up, Levi's shorts, Supra sneakers]

Every vintage lover has their favorite labels and brands, the one's that when seen, you know the fit and quality to expect. One of the my personal favorite's is Gant. Preppy and youthful, Gant's 80s shirt-sleeved button ups are hard for me not to buy because I'm aware of how much use and comfort I get from wearing them. Long live the short-sleeve plaid!

printed pink [film]

[American Apparel shirt, ASOS pants, ADIDAS sambas, Vintage bandana from Stella Dallas Fabric]

My accessory de jour is the bandana; around your neck, on your bag or in your pocket, I'm obsessed. So naturally when we spotted this Pink Panther print wall in Bushwick, we had to shoot with the matching baby pink bandana. Summer, you're almost here!

chimayo jacket

Chimayo 101: During the first half of the century, American's traveled the world snatching up goods from the local cultures, ie. Hawaiian shirts, souvenir jackets from Japan and Korea as well as Chimayo woven blankets and jackets. They are made of hand woven wools, often made in red, white, blue and black motifs. Chimayo jackets are hard to come by these days, especially at  good price, but I copped mine on the cheap from the amazing Nifty Thrifty! Check it out- they always have sick gems.
